Arunachal District Boosts Land Monitoring, Plans Strict Measures to Prevent Fresh Encroachments

The Papum Pare district administration in Arunachal Pradesh has intensified its efforts to remove illegal encroachments from government land and strengthen monitoring across different parts of the district.The issue was discussed during a review meeting held at Yupia on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Lobsang Tsering. The meeting was attended by administrative officers and officials from the Land Department, who reviewed the present situation of encroachment and the challenges being faced during enforcement drives. During the meeting, the deputy commissioner directed officials to take strict and time-bound action against people found illegally occupying government land. He asked officers to issue fresh notices wherever necessary and carry out enforcement measures according to existing legal provisions. Officials were also instructed to ensure proper verification before issuing notices and to follow all required timelines during the process. The administration stressed that action should be carried out carefully and systematically so that legal procedures are properly maintained.

The deputy commissioner also asked officials to remain alert to prevent fresh encroachments in different areas of the district. According to officials, the administration is trying to strengthen monitoring efforts to stop further illegal occupation of government land.One of the major concerns raised during the meeting was the lack of proper land demarcation in several areas. Officials said this has created difficulties in identifying the exact boundaries of government land in some locations. To deal with such situations, the deputy commissioner said that in areas where proper demarcation is not available, the administration would follow an “as-is-where-is” approach by using existing records for verification and enforcement purposes. Several officers attending the meeting shared issues from their respective jurisdictions. SDO Doimukh Kipa Raja highlighted the need for re-verification of land belonging to Rajiv Gandhi University and also raised concerns related to Land Possession Certificate (LPC) issues in some locations.ADC Balijan Takar Rava, ADC Kimin Ocean Gao, I/C ADC Sagalee Aying Perme and DLRSO Tenzin Tashi also discussed challenges being faced in their respective areas regarding land records and encroachment-related matters.

Estate Officer Tame Yajum informed the meeting that pending funds had affected further demarcation work in some areas. He requested intervention from the administration for early release of funds so that the demarcation exercise could continue without delay. Officials said the administration remains committed to protecting government land and ensuring that illegal encroachments are dealt with through proper legal procedures.
