Meta Launches Paid Subscription Services on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp

Meta has broadened its monetisation approach, launching subscription services on its leading social media platforms Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. The new plans are targeted at creators, businesses and users who are looking for premium features, enhanced privacy controls and richer engagement tools as the company aims to diversify its revenue streams beyond digital advertising.
Subscription features include verified account services, premium customer support, exclusive content options, more security options and more.

Users can subscribe to Meta Verified on Instagram and Facebook to receive benefits such as blue verification badges, account protection against impersonation and direct access to customer support. Content creators can also expect more opportunities to earn recurring income with subscriber-only posts, live sessions and exclusive community access.
Meanwhile, paid tools are being rolled out on WhatsApp, mostly for businesses and channel admins.

The platform is reportedly testing premium broadcast features, better communication tools and subscription-based channels that allow creators and organisations to share exclusive updates with their followers. Meta said it believes the move will help bolster user engagement and generate new income streams for digital creators and businesses.
Subscription services are becoming more important to social media companies as ad markets become uncertain and user tastes change, industry analysts say.
