Sikkim Becomes 15th State to Receive Renowned President’s Police Colour

In a historic milestone for the state, the Sikkim Police has been conferred with the “President’s Police Colour,” the nation’s highest ceremonial honour for a police force. President Droupadi Murmu presented the prestigious award during a magnificent Alankaran Parade held at the Paljor Stadium in Gangtok, recognizing the force’s exceptional service, unwavering discipline, and dedication to the nation.

With this monumental achievement, Sikkim joins an elite group, becoming the 15th state in India and only the third from the Northeast region to receive this ultimate recognition.

Addressing the gathering, President Murmu lauded the Sikkim Police for their exemplary role in maintaining law and order, as well as their swift response and efficiency in mitigating natural disasters. However, the President also reminded the force of their evolving responsibilities in a modern world. She urged personnel to adopt a deeply citizen-centric approach, emphasizing the need for heightened sensitivity when dealing with vulnerable sections of society, particularly women, children, and the economically disadvantaged.

Furthermore, President Murmu highlighted the rising threat of digital crimes, stating that the police force must be fully equipped to tackle modern challenges such as cybercrime, online fraud, and deepfakes. She expressed strong confidence that the Sikkim Police will effectively combat these contemporary threats by integrating advanced technology and modern policing methods.

The presentation of the President’s Police Colour stands as a testament to the force’s glorious legacy of service and marks the beginning of a tech-forward, compassionate chapter in Sikkim’s law enforcement history.
