NCA Opens Selection Gates for Senior and Age-Group State Cricket Teams

The Nagaland Cricket Association, or NCA, is inviting aspiring cricketers from all corners of the state to participate in its upcoming talent hunt. The selection trials are aimed at building strong state squads across multiple age groups as well as senior men’s and women’s categories. All selection procedures are scheduled to take place at the GNR Ground in Dimapur, kicking off on June 10.

To ensure an organized selection process, the NCA has released a detailed, category-wise calendar. The trials will open with the Senior Men’s category on June 10, followed by the Men’s Under-19 selection on June 11 and 12. Young aspiring cricketers in the Boys’ Under-16 division will take the field on June 13, while the Men’s Under-23 trials are locked in for June 15 and 16. The final two days are dedicated entirely to women’s cricket. The Women’s Under-15 and Under-19 categories will be evaluated on June 17, and the trials will conclude on June 18 with the Women’s Under-23 and Senior selections.

The association has also instituted strict age-cut-off criteria for transparency. Girls participating in the Under-15 trials must be born between September 1, 2011, and August 31, 2014, while Boys Under-16 trialists must fall between September 1, 2010, and August 31, 2012. For both the Under-19 and Under-23 divisions, players must be born on or after September 1 of 2007 and 2003, respectively. Local coaches view this open trial format as a vital pathway for homegrown talent to break into mainstream Indian domestic cricket.
