Shree Cement has expanded its community development footprint in Meghalaya through a series of initiatives focused on solar-powered education, village electrification and clean energy solutions, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth in the Northeast.
Working in partnership with GHE Foundation and local stakeholders, the company has introduced solar-powered smart classrooms and digital learning infrastructure across the state. During FY26, seven schools were equipped with solar-powered computer laboratories, benefiting nearly 3,000 students and 117 teachers. The facilities provide access to digital learning tools and curriculum-aligned educational content in areas where grid connectivity remains limited.
As part of its clean energy push, Shree Cement supported solar village electrification projects covering 250 households across 12 villages. Through solar microgrids, families now have access to reliable electricity for lighting, mobile charging and other daily needs, improving productivity and quality of life.
The company has also facilitated the adoption of solar-powered clean cooking systems in 151 households across 10 villages. The initiative combines rooftop solar installations with electric pressure cookers, helping reduce dependence on firewood while promoting cleaner and healthier cooking practices.
“At Shree Cement, we believe sustainable development is most meaningful when it creates lasting impact in communities,” a company spokesperson said, adding that the firm remains committed to advancing education, energy access and long-term socio-economic development in Meghalaya.
