The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved the regularisation of 74 eligible erstwhile Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) against existing resultant vacancies, providing long-awaited service security to teachers who have been serving under the former RMSA framework. Announcing the decision on June 16, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said the Cabinet’s approval marks an important step towards addressing a long-pending demand raised by RMSA teachers across the state. According to the government, the regularisation process will be conducted through a Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), ensuring that eligible teachers are absorbed into regular government service against 74 available vacancies. The decision is expected to benefit teachers who have been serving in government schools under the RMSA programme and have been seeking regularisation for several years. Officials said the move will provide job security, service stability and access to various benefits available to regular government employees.
Sharing the development, Chief Minister Khandu said the Cabinet had taken the decision after considering the concerns and demands of RMSA teachers. He noted that the approval reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector while recognising the contributions made by teachers working in schools across the state. The RMSA teachers have played a significant role in supporting secondary education in Arunachal Pradesh, particularly in remote and rural areas where access to quality education remains a challenge. Their regularisation is expected to boost morale among educators and improve the overall functioning of government schools. Officials said the move will not only benefit the teachers concerned but also contribute to greater continuity and stability in the education system. With teachers receiving regular service status, the government expects improvements in academic planning, classroom management and long-term educational outcomes.
The Cabinet decision comes as part of the state’s broader efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure and improve the quality of teaching in government institutions. Education has remained a key focus area for the state government, with several initiatives being undertaken to enhance learning opportunities for students. Teacher associations and stakeholders have welcomed the announcement, describing it as a positive step towards resolving a long-standing issue. Many teachers had been awaiting a decision on regularisation, citing years of service under the RMSA framework. With the Cabinet’s approval now in place, the Departmental Promotion Committee will undertake the necessary procedures for implementing the regularisation process. Once completed, the 74 eligible teachers will be formally absorbed into regular government service, securing their careers and extending government service benefits to them.
