CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI brings renal care expertise closer to Northeast through Assam partnership

In a move aimed at improving access to advanced kidney care in Northeast India, CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI, in partnership with the Government of Assam, organised an exclusive Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on renal transplantation in Guwahati, bringing together leading specialists to share expertise that could ultimately benefit patients across the region.

Held at Vivanta Hotel under the theme “Advancing Renal Care through Collaboration, Innovation & Expertise,” the programme convened nephrologists, urologists, transplant surgeons, physicians and healthcare professionals to discuss the latest innovations and best practices in kidney transplantation. The academic sessions opened with an introduction by Dr. Sombrata Roy, Unit Head, CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI, followed by presentations from Dr. ForqanBabuShaikh on robotic renal transplantation and Dr. Aziz MD Atikul Islam on retro nephrectomy and contemporary surgical techniques.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Roy said continuous medical education and collaboration among clinicians are essential to advancing transplant care and improving patient outcomes across Assam and the Northeast.

With over five decades of clinical excellence, CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI said the initiative reflects its commitment to strengthening the region’s healthcare ecosystem through knowledge-sharing and multidisciplinary collaboration. Beyond the scientific discussions, the programme concluded with a networking session and dinner, enabling healthcare professionals to forge partnerships that could help expand access to world-class renal care and improve the quality of treatment available to patients across the Northeast.
