Fortis Signs O&M Pact for New Multispecialty Hospital, Expands Eastern India Presence

Fortis Healthcare has taken a significant step in expanding its presence in eastern India by signing an operations and management (O&M) agreement with the Dion Group to run a 300-bed multispecialty hospital in Cuttack, Odisha.

The agreement marks Fortis Healthcare’s first major entry into Odisha and its second major expansion in eastern India after Kolkata. The upcoming greenfield facility will be developed as a Centre of Excellence in multispecialty healthcare, offering advanced tertiary and quaternary care services. The hospital is expected to become operational within three years.

According to the company, the initiative aligns with its broader growth strategy focused on expanding access to quality healthcare across India. This includes a mix of brownfield expansions and asset-light models such as O&M partnerships and other inorganic growth opportunities.

Fortis Healthcare Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ashutosh Raghuvanshi said the new hospital aims to enhance access to advanced medical care for patients in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and surrounding regions. He added that the facility will strengthen the healthcare ecosystem in Odisha by providing specialised services closer to patients, reducing the need for long-distance travel for advanced treatment.

The company has also stated in its regulatory filing that such partnerships are a key part of its strategy to scale operations efficiently while leveraging collaborations with local developers to expand its national footprint in the healthcare sector.
