Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the newly constructed terminal building at Jodhpur Airport and launched the Modified UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) Scheme, marking a significant step toward strengthening India’s regional aviation network. Built at a cost of approximately ₹480 crore, the modern terminal is designed to handle up to 20 lakh passengers annually and features upgraded passenger amenities to enhance travel convenience and operational efficiency. Alongside the inauguration, the Prime Minister introduced the revamped UDAN scheme with a budget allocation of ₹28,840 crore over the next decade to expand regional air connectivity, improve access to underserved and remote areas, and accelerate aviation-led economic growth. The enhanced programme focuses on developing new routes, upgrading airport infrastructure, and improving connectivity across the country, making air travel more accessible and affordable for millions of citizens. The initiatives are expected to boost tourism, trade, employment, and investment, particularly in smaller cities and emerging economic hubs. During his Rajasthan visit, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to building world-class infrastructure while ensuring inclusive development through better transportation networks. The inauguration of the new terminal and the launch of the modified UDAN scheme underscore India’s broader strategy to modernize its civil aviation sector and support balanced regional development through improved connectivity and enhanced passenger services.
