The threat follows a decision by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to add humanoid robots, quadrupeds, and power inverters to its “Covered List” of equipment deemed significant risks to national security and critical artificial intelligence infrastructure. Condemning Washington’s decision as discriminatory market distortion and unilateral suppression, Beijing urged U.S. authorities to immediately withdraw the restrictions and cease using national security concerns as a pretext to disrupt commercial trade. A spokesperson for China’s Commerce Ministry emphasized that the import ban severely damages bilateral economic stability and disrupts global industrial supply chains. The regulatory crackdown triggered a sharp sell-off across Chinese robotics equities, with prominent automation developers such as Estun Automation and Ubtech Robotics tumbling up to 11% in Asian trading as investors braced for restricted access to the American market. Beijing reiterated that it will take all necessary countermeasures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises if Washington continues on its current path.
