IndiGo is preparing to introduce lie-flat business class suites alongside a high-density economy cabin on its upcoming long-haul international routes to preserve its lean cost structure while capturing premium demand. The strategy will debut on the carrier’s newly ordered Airbus A350-900 widebody aircraft, featuring a hybrid layout designed with 16 premium business class seats, 28 premium economy seats, and 333 high-density economy seats. By maximizing total seating capacity on its widebody fleet, India’s largest domestic airline aims to achieve lower unit costs per seat, allowing it to compete aggressively on international fares against full-service rivals like Air India while upholding strict financial discipline. Passengers in the main cabin will receive standard legroom, hot meals, and inflight entertainment as the carrier expands its non-stop flight offerings to destinations across Europe and Asia. Executive leadership highlighted that feeding international traffic through IndiGo’s expansive domestic network will be essential to sustain high load factors on long-haul routes as widebody deliveries commence.
