In a unique initiative aimed at fostering innovation and strengthening participatory governance, students of Dorjee Khandu Government College, Tawang on Tuesday presented their Innovation Challenge Proposals after completing a one-month internship with various Government Departments during their summer vacation.
The presentation programme, held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Tawang, Namgyal Angmo, provided a platform for students to translate their field experiences into practical solutions for improving governance and public service delivery.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner lauded the students for their keen observations, analytical approach, and innovative thinking.
She stated that the District Administration had encouraged the College to organise the exercise with the objective of enabling students to identify administrative challenges and recommend constructive, implementable solutions based on their internship experiences.
Emphasising the importance of youth participation in governance, the DC announced that the best innovation proposals would be taken up for implementation by the respective departments.
She further assured that valuable suggestions emerging from all five presentations would also be examined by the District Administration for possible adoption.
Encouraging the students to become responsible problem-solvers, she urged them to develop a habit of critical analysis by identifying gaps and proposing practical solutions that can make governance more efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric.
She appreciated the interns for highlighting key challenges such as infrastructure constraints, manpower shortages, and connectivity issues faced by the departments where they were attached, describing their observations as thoughtful and relevant to improving service delivery.
As a mark of appreciation, the Deputy Commissioner felicitated the students with certificates and traditional khadas in recognition of their efforts and valuable contributions.
Following the programme, the Deputy Commissioner visited the yet to start College Library building and inspected the surrounding campus, reviewing the progress of infrastructure development.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Assistant Professor Tenzin Yeegha and concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Assistant Professor Pema Yangzom.
The initiative reflects the District Administration’s commitment to nurturing young talent, encouraging innovation, and building a culture of collaborative governance where the ideas and aspirations of youth contribute meaningfully towards the development of a stronger, smarter, and more progressive Tawang.
