The upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 150 has been spotted at a dealership ahead of its expected launch, revealing several key changes to the motorcycle. The new model appears to be part of Bajaj Auto’s larger Pulsar update strategy, following the updated Pulsar N160 and the next-generation Pulsar 125 that was recently spotted.
The new Pulsar 150 will be based on a completely revised platform. One of the major changes is the frame, with the motorcycle using a single-downtube design instead of the older architecture that has been associated with the Classic Pulsar range for years. At the rear, the outgoing twin shock absorbers have been replaced by a preload-adjustable monoshock. The front continues to use a conventional telescopic fork, giving the motorcycle a chassis layout similar to the new Pulsar 125.
The engine is another major area of change. The outgoing Pulsar 150 comes with an air-cooled motor, while the new version is expected to feature an air- and oil-cooled engine. This additional cooling arrangement could offer better thermal management and allow Bajaj greater scope for engine tuning. However, the company has not yet disclosed the official power and torque figures.
The existing Pulsar 150 is powered by a 149.5cc single-cylinder engine producing 14hp and around 13.3Nm of torque. The upcoming motorcycle is expected to continue with a similar displacement, although the final engine output and gearbox specifications will be revealed closer to the launch.
In terms of styling, the new Pulsar 150 retains the familiar design language but receives several noticeable updates. The motorcycle gets a redesigned headlight cowl, a muscular fuel tank with extensions and a slimmer tail section. The signature twin LED tail-lamps continue to feature at the rear, while a colour LCD instrument cluster appears to be one of the key equipment upgrades.
The motorcycle also gets alloy wheels and a front disc brake. Despite the changes, Bajaj has retained the recognisable Pulsar identity instead of giving the motorcycle a completely new design.
The new Bajaj Pulsar 150 will continue to compete in the competitive 150-160cc motorcycle segment. Its rivals are expected to include the TVS Apache RTR 160, Honda CB150 Hornet and other performance-oriented commuter motorcycles. The new model is likely to command a higher price than the current Pulsar 150, although Bajaj has yet to announce the official pricing.
