The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), in collaboration with the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), organized an interactive “Retire Smart India 2.0” National Pension System (NPS) Awareness Session at Pragya Bhawan in Agartala, Tripura, to promote retirement planning and enhance awareness about pension participation.
The programme began with a welcome address by the Indian Chamber of Commerce. Special addresses were delivered by Shri Beiseia Darlong, TCS, Deputy Secretary and State Nodal Officer, Finance Department, Government of Tripura, and Shri Pradeep Krishnaraj, IAS, Director of the Skill Development Department, Government of Tripura. The keynote address was delivered by Shri Ruby Vinayak Bhaosagar, Assistant General Manager, PFRDA.
In his keynote speech, Shri Ruby Vinayak Bhaosagar highlighted the evolving pension landscape in India and emphasized the growing importance of the National Pension System as a flexible, digital and market-linked retirement solution. As of August 30, 2026, NPS had over 9.93 crore subscribers, with Assets Under Management (AUM) exceeding ₹17.26 lakh crore, making it a key pillar of India’s pension ecosystem.
The session also focused on several reforms and initiatives aimed at improving the accessibility and reach of the pension system. These include increasing the maximum entry age to 85 years, simplifying withdrawal procedures, and enhancing digital processes. The initiatives are designed to expand pension coverage among gig workers, MSMEs, farmers, women and corporate employees, supporting the vision of a “Pensioned Society by 2047” and the broader goal of Viksit Bharat @2047.
Shri Nishant Anand, Manager, PFRDA, delivered a presentation on the features and benefits of NPS for individuals and corporates, highlighting its role in long-term retirement planning. Chartered Accountant Gaurav Jain from ICAI elaborated on the tax benefits available under NPS and addressed various tax-related aspects of pension planning.
An interactive question-and-answer session was subsequently held, allowing participants to seek clarifications on different aspects of NPS and retirement planning. The programme concluded with a press interaction and a vote of thanks.
PFRDA continues to undertake awareness and outreach initiatives across the country to promote retirement planning and encourage wider participation in the pension ecosystem. The authority remains committed to realizing the vision of a “Pensioned Society by 2047,” ensuring that every citizen has access to suitable pension solutions and greater financial security in old age.
