Naga MLAs Hold Talks With Manipur Government Over State Situation

Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho has said that Naga legislators are holding discussions with the state government and senior security officials to address the prevailing situation in the state, amid demands for the resignation or removal of Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen.

Dikho said Naga MLAs had met to discuss measures to improve the situation and had also held discussions with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Director General of Police (DGP) and the state’s Security Advisor.

“We are trying our best. Even today, we had a meeting among our Naga MLAs on how to bring about an immaculate situation. We have had discussions with all the concerned, including the Chief Minister, the DGP and the Security Advisor, to apprise them of the situation and discuss how to bring it under control,” Dikho said.

The discussions come at a time when the state government is facing demands from Naga legislators for action against Nemcha Kipgen, who also holds the post of Deputy Chief Minister. The demand has added another political challenge for the government as it works to address the situation in Manipur.

The meeting between Naga legislators and the government is aimed at finding ways to improve the prevailing conditions. Discussions with senior police and security officials are also part of the efforts to assess the situation and consider measures to bring it under control.

However, the specific outcome of the meetings and the government’s position on the demand for Kipgen’s resignation or removal were not immediately available.

Further developments are awaited as the state government continues its engagement with Naga legislators and other concerned authorities over the situation.
