From GST Norms to ITR Deadlines: Crucial Financial Changes to Watch Out for This November

With the turn of the month this November, a host of crucial financial and regulatory policies will come into effect, directly impacting various segments of society including pensioners, taxpayers, and everyday citizens through a series of mandated deadlines and structural revisions. Under the updated tax norms, the income tax return filing deadline for corporate entities, partnership firms, LLPs, and professionals requiring audit certification has been extended to November 21, while retired government servants must submit their mandatory annual life certificate, known as the Jeevan Pramaan Patra, by November 30 to prevent any disruption in their monthly pension flow, following the earlier rollout for super seniors on October 1. In tandem with these administrative deadlines, public sector oil marketing firms like IOC and HPCL will execute their monthly LPG price revision on November 1 for both domestic and commercial cylinders to mirror global energy trends, and the central government will officially enforce the first phase of revised GST regulations from November 1 following a formal CBIC notification on October 26, introducing major structural modifications covering post-sale discounts, quicker tax refund channels, and compliance relief for exporters. To top it all off, commercial banks are anticipated to revise their fixed deposit interest rates across selective tenures this month following the Reserve Bank of India’s decision to hike the repo rate during its latest monetary policy meeting, a move poised to impact market liquidity and commercial funding dynamics.
