Adani Enterprises Ltd, the flagship incubator company of Gautam Adani’s conglomerate, posted a 55 percent decline in consolidated net profit to ₹1,492 crore for the second quarter ended September, compared to ₹3,304 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. This bottom-line contraction was largely attributable to a high base effect from the prior year, during which the firm recorded a substantial exceptional gain of ₹3,583 crore primarily derived from the divestment of its remaining stake in AWL Agri Business. Despite the drop in reported net profit, the underlying operational performance remained extraordinarily robust throughout the quarter. Total income registered a sharp surge of 74 percent year-on-year to reach ₹38,023 crore, while Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortisation expanded 62 percent to ₹6,316 crore. Excluding exceptional items from both comparative periods, pre-tax profit demonstrated exceptional core strength, jumping 146 percent to ₹2,002 crore. For the first half of the financial year, net profit attributable to owners declined 92 percent to ₹332 crore, heavily impacted by a first-quarter charge of ₹2,644 crore related to a $275 million regulatory settlement with the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control. However, overall operating metrics for the six-month period scaled new heights, with first-half EBITDA increasing 56 percent to a record ₹11,958 crore, and pre-tax profit excluding the settlement expense rising 45 percent to ₹3,297 crore. Operational performance across key verticals was anchored by the rapid ramp-up of the Mundra copper smelter, which emerged as a primary growth driver. The copper segment delivered a pre-tax profit before interest of ₹1,038 crore compared to a loss of ₹278 crore in the prior-year period, supported by a dramatic rise in sales volume to 80,600 tonnes from 11,800 tonnes, yielding a first-half copper EBITDA of ₹2,033 crore. The airport division maintained strong operational momentum with EBITDA advancing 55 percent to ₹1,641 crore alongside a 20 percent income gain, despite passenger traffic softening by approximately 6 percent. Nevertheless, the segment recorded a quarterly pre-tax loss of ₹290 crore against a profit of ₹99 crore a year earlier, driven by elevated depreciation charges following the capitalization of the Navi Mumbai airport asset. Meanwhile, the renewable manufacturing arm, Adani New Industries, recorded a 7 percent drop in quarterly EBITDA to ₹1,094 crore even as solar module sales volumes surged 35 percent to 1,478 megawatts, bolstered strategically by the September commissioning of a new 4.3-gigawatt module line that expanded total manufacturing capacity to 10 gigawatts. Overall, strong operational momentum across core infrastructure and manufacturing verticals continues to underpin long-term expansion goals.
