Godrej Agrovet launches ArgoRid to combat fish lice, boost aquaculture productivity

Godrej Agrovet Limited (Godrej Agrovet) has launched ArgoRid, a fish lice controller developed in collaboration with ICAR-CIFE. This innovative product addresses Argulus infections, which affect nearly 48% of Indian aquaculture ponds, causing annual losses of $62.5 million. ArgoRid not only heals lesions caused by parasitic attachment but also enhances fish immunity, offering a farmer-friendly, easy-to-use solution for aquaculture challenges.

“ArgoRid reflects our commitment to research-driven solutions that enhance farm efficiency and empower farming families,” said Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director, Godrej Agrovet. He added that the launch aligns with India’s Blue Revolution goals and underscores the significance of public-private partnerships.

Kathi, a key hub for fish trade, is expected to witness positive impacts from ArgoRid. By improving fish survival rates and productivity, the product can enhance supply chains, boost economic prospects for traders, and cater to increasing consumer demand for high-quality fish. ArgoRid’s introduction comes as India strengthens its position as the third-largest global fish producer. With its innovative nutraceutical formulation, the product offers scalable solutions to enhance productivity, nutritional security, and farmer incomes, contributing to long-term growth in the aquaculture sector.
