Rapido brings rides and livelihoods to West Bengal’s heartland with 15-city launch

Rapido has expanded its Bike Taxi and Auto services to 15 new cities in West Bengal, including Jhargram, Malda, Krishnanagar, Kharagpur, and Murshidabad. With this rollout, the ride-sharing platform now operates in every district of the state, offering accessible transport while opening new economic pathways for local communities.

The expansion is expected to generate 1 lakh job opportunities, adding to the over 9 million livelihoods already created by Rapido across India. With 4 million daily rides, the company is transforming how Indians commute—while giving thousands the chance to earn with dignity and flexibility as Rapido captains.

A  region known for its forested beauty and tribal communities, the arrival of Rapido is more than a mobility upgrade—it’s a bridge to economic inclusion. Locals, especially youth, see it as an opportunity to earn income while offering services in areas where traditional transport is often unreliable or absent. Small traders and marketgoers also expect improved access to town centers and services. “This isn’t just about rides; it’s about livelihoods,” said Pavan Guntupalli, Co-founder, Rapido, stressing their commitment to socially responsible and locally integrated growth.
