Police Doing Everything To Solve Missing Dentist Case

Responding to the family of missing dentist Dr. Debanjib Sharmah’s criticism of the Arunachal government and police investigation, Lohit police affirmed they are doing everything possible to resolve the case and provide closure to the family.

Lohit SP Thutan Jamba told this daily that the case is a top priority and it is unfair to accuse the police of lacking urgency. He confirmed regular communication with Dr. Sharmah’s spouse to keep her informed.

Addressing DNA test delays, the SP clarified that the first DNA sample was inconclusive. Following the Forensic Science Laboratory’s (FSL) advice, a second sample was collected on July 14, contrary to the family’s claim of an earlier collection. He added that the police facilitated the DNA collection in Guwahati, even traveling there, though the procedure normally requires the family to come to Tezu.

Jamba said he is actively urging the FSL to expedite the report and recently followed up to hasten the process.

Dr. Sharmah went missing on May 31 near Parshuram Kund, with his belongings found undisturbed. A skeleton found downstream in June prompted DNA testing, still ongoing.
