Zerodha investor alleges Rs 5 crore withdrawal cap on Rs 18 crore balance

Mumbai-based investor and IVF specialist Dr. Aniruddha Malpani has accused leading online brokerage Zerodha of what he called a “scam” after claiming he was unable to withdraw more than ₹5 crore from his trading account, despite having a withdrawable balance of around ₹18.46 crore. Sharing screenshots from his Zerodha dashboard on X (formerly Twitter), Dr. Malpani revealed his total account value of ₹42.9 crore, with a used margin of ₹24.46 crore and the remaining balance available for withdrawal.

In his post, he wrote, “The Zerodha scam! They don’t allow me to withdraw my own money, saying the daily limit for withdrawal is ₹5 crores. They use my money for free!” His statement quickly gained attention online, sparking discussions about platform limits and financial transparency. Some users, however, cautioned him against publicly revealing such large financial details, warning that it could attract unwanted attention.

Dr. Malpani, who founded the Malpani Infertility Clinic in 1991, is also an active angel investor with stakes in over 30 startups across sectors such as healthcare, technology, and enterprise solutions.
