The Arunachal Fashion Week 2026 – The Artisans’ Movement concluded successfully at Interior Park, Naharlagun, highlighting eight days of indigenous textiles, creative enterprises, and cultural identity. The grand finale, celebrated as Cultural Heritage Day and Awards Night, featured State Minister for Textiles and Handicrafts, Nyato Dukam, as the chief guest, alongside Doimukh MLA, Nabam Vivek, as guest of honour. This event brought together a diverse array of designers, weavers, artisans, models, and industry stakeholders, celebrating the five-year journey of the Artisans’ Movement, which connects traditional craftsmanship with contemporary market opportunities.
Throughout the week, the event showcased runway presentations, live performances, and a large multi-floor exhibition that featured handloom collections, designer wear, jewelry, accessories, home décor, furniture, and artisan crafts, creating vibrant interactions between creators and consumers. The closing ceremony honored outstanding contributions with awards presented in various categories, including top models and fashion designers. Notable recipients included Millo Antu (Miss 2026), Tapang Taba (Mr 2026), Osum Jerang Karlo (Top Fashion Designer), and many others, culminating in the recognition of impactful figures across the fashion landscape.
Minister Nyato Dukam emphasized that the event transcends mere fashion, signifying a movement to preserve culture, empower youth, and strengthen Arunachal Pradesh’s voice in India’s sustainable fashion ecosystem. He highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance market linkages, promote indigenous textiles, and create opportunities for local youth, reinforcing the commitment to cultural preservation through initiatives like the Arunachal Fashion Week.
Arunachal Pradesh’s textile economy is on an upward trajectory, producing approximately 69 metric tonnes of eri, muga, and mulberry silk annually, supporting over 34,000 livelihoods across nearly 500 villages, backed by a proposed Rs 25 crore investment aimed at sericulture and skill development. Yana Ngoba Chakpu, CEO of Northeast India Fashion Week, expressed that Arunachal Fashion Week represents the beginning of a broader journey, aiming to expand the platform regionally and elevate the narratives of Northeast textiles on national and global stages.
