New NVBDCP Monitoring Hub Launched to Boost Disease Surveillance in Nagaland

In a move aimed at improving disease surveillance and response, the Health and Family Welfare department in Nagaland has set up a dedicated state control room to monitor vector-borne diseases round the clock.

The facility has been established under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) and became operational on March 31, following a review meeting held by the department. The decision was taken by H&FW joint director and NVBDCP state programme officer Dr. Imnapokim during discussions with the state NVBDCP team.

Officials said the control room will play a key role in ensuring timely reporting, monitoring and coordination of vector-borne diseases across the state. These include malaria, dengue, chikungunya, Japanese encephalitis, kala-azar and lymphatic filariasis, all of which remain public health concerns, especially during certain seasons.

The control room will function under the supervision of the state entomological wing of NVBDCP. It will be responsible for systematic collection and compilation of data, as well as quick analysis and intervention in case of any reported outbreak or rise in cases. Authorities said this step is expected to strengthen early warning systems and improve response time during emergencies.

The facility will operate круглосуточно, providing 24×7 support to citizens and health workers. A dedicated contact number—7630932527—has been issued for reporting suspected or confirmed cases.
