In a significant move to strengthen community ties along the border, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police has launched a specialized five-day cultural orientation programme for its personnel deployed in Sikkim. The initiative formally commenced on Monday at the ITBP 13th Battalion headquarters, aiming to deeply familiarize troops with the unique language, traditions, and rich heritage of the Himalayan state.

To ensure authentic insight, the sessions are being conducted by subject-matter experts from the Department of Culture, Government of Sikkim. These experts will guide the personnel through the intricate linguistic and cultural landscape of the region, enabling better communication and mutual respect.

Officials stated that this initiative reflects the ITBP’s ongoing commitment to fostering cultural awareness. By equipping deployed personnel with a better understanding of local customs, the force aims to enhance meaningful engagement with local communities and ensure maximum respect for regional traditions.
