Chowna Mein Stresses Coordinated Forest Governance

The Arunachal Pradesh government has reiterated its commitment to resolving long-standing issues related to forest areas and land management through coordinated action and collaboration among various departments. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein made the statement after chairing a meeting of the High-Power Committee (HPC) on June 18, where key forest-related concerns and land management challenges across the state were reviewed. The meeting focused on identifying practical solutions and strengthening coordination among departments responsible for managing natural resources and land administration.

The high-level meeting was attended by Environment and Forest Minister Wangki Lowang, Urban Development and Land Management Minister Balo Raja, Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta, and senior government officials. During the discussions, the committee examined a range of issues concerning forest areas and land use, with particular emphasis on improving inter-departmental cooperation to ensure effective implementation of policies and programmes. Officials also reviewed existing challenges and explored ways to streamline decision-making processes related to land and forest management. Speaking after the meeting, Mein stressed the importance of a collective approach in addressing complex issues that involve multiple departments and stakeholders. He said the government remains committed to finding practical and sustainable solutions that balance development needs with environmental conservation.

“The state government is committed to resolving long-pending forest area and land management issues through coordinated efforts and collaborative decision-making,” Mein said. He further underlined the need for stronger coordination among departments to ensure that policies are implemented effectively and that land and forest resources are managed in a sustainable manner for the benefit of future generations.
