APAMB, NABCONS Sign Agriculture MoU

The Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (APAMB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NABARD Consultancy Services Private Limited (NABCONS) to strengthen the implementation of agriculture development programmes and provide better support to farmers across the state. The agreement was signed on Thursday by NABARD Itanagar General Manager S.V. Ranga Rao and APAMB Chief Executive Officer Okit Palling in the presence of Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu, Agriculture Secretary Samuel Changkija and senior officials of the department. Under the MoU, NABCONS will serve as the Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) for APAMB. It will oversee the implementation of various Central Sector Schemes (CSS), state government programmes and other agriculture-related projects to improve planning, monitoring and execution.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu said stronger collaboration between institutions is essential to accelerate the growth of Arunachal Pradesh’s agriculture and horticulture sectors. He noted that while the state has considerable agricultural potential, development strategies must be designed according to its unique geography and local conditions. The minister said many farmers continue to face difficulties in accessing markets and receiving fair prices for their produce despite the state’s ability to produce high-quality agricultural commodities. He added that the government is working to strengthen digital agriculture systems to improve planning, market access and service delivery. Wangsu also highlighted the state’s growing road connectivity, large farming population and diverse agro-climatic zones, ranging from tropical to temperate regions, as major strengths that can support crop diversification and expand agricultural production.

Describing NABCONS as a trusted institution with strong technical expertise, the minister expressed confidence that the partnership would improve the implementation of development projects and open new opportunities for future collaboration in the agriculture sector. Agriculture Secretary Samuel Changkija said NABCONS’ technical support would strengthen the state’s development initiatives and help improve project delivery. He stressed the importance of close coordination between institutions to address challenges at the field level and ensure the effective implementation of ongoing schemes.
