Google Pay and SBI Card have launched the Google Pay Flex SBI Card, a new co-branded credit card designed to offer enhanced rewards and flexible payment options for everyday users. The card aims to combine the convenience of Google Pay’s digital platform with SBI Card’s credit services, allowing customers to manage their complete credit card experience directly through the Google Pay application.
The new card offers rewards of up to Rs 18,000 annually through Google Pay’s reward currency, known as “Stars”. Customers can earn up to eight Stars for every cumulative Rs 500 spent on eligible transactions, with the reward rate depending on spending levels during a billing cycle. Each Star carries a value of Rs 1 and can be redeemed instantly while making eligible payments through Google Pay or exchanged for available vouchers on the platform.
The launch comes at a time when digital payments, UPI transactions and contactless payment methods are witnessing rapid growth across India. The Google Pay Flex SBI Card is aimed at consumers who frequently use digital platforms for expenses such as groceries, utility payments, travel bookings and online shopping.
Unlike traditional reward programmes that often require separate redemption procedures, the new card allows users to apply rewards instantly during eligible payments, simplifying the redemption process. The companies stated that the card is designed to make regular spending more rewarding while providing users with a seamless digital credit management experience.
