Ather Energy is preparing to introduce a new electric scooter in India on August 29, 2026. The launch will take place during Ather Community Day, with the company having already confirmed that the upcoming model will be named the Ather Konarc.
The name ‘Konarc’ appears to be inspired by the Hindi word ‘Konark’, which translates to ‘corner of the sun’. While Ather has not revealed all the details yet, several aspects of the upcoming electric scooter are already known or expected based on the company’s previous announcements.
The Ather Konarc is likely to be built around the company’s EL01 platform. Ather had showcased the EL01 concept on August 29 last year. According to the company, the platform was developed using data collected from more than 26 lakh kilometres of real-world riding.
Ather has also indicated that the EL01 architecture is flexible enough to support multiple electric scooters across different size categories. This suggests that the platform could form the foundation for several future models from the company.
Tarun Mehta, CEO of Ather Energy, recently shared an image of the production-spec version of the upcoming scooter. The design seen in the image appears to be closely related to the EL01 concept, further suggesting that the Konarc could use the same platform.
In terms of design, the Ather Konarc is expected to feature an LED headlamp positioned on the handlebar. A wide daytime running light (DRL) is likely to be integrated into the front apron, giving the scooter a distinctive appearance.
The upcoming electric scooter is also expected to ride on a 14-inch front wheel and a 12-inch rear wheel. Another notable element could be its metal body, which would give the Konarc a different construction approach compared with many conventional electric scooters.
More details about the Ather Konarc, including its battery, range, performance, features and pricing, are expected to be revealed closer to its August 29 launch
