BHIM’s Meethi Diwali campaign links digital payment adoption with educational support

BHIM Payments App, developed by NPCI BHIM, has launched the third edition of its ‘Meethi Diwali’ campaign in partnership with Goonj, using everyday digital payment activity to support educational access for underprivileged children.

The campaign, running from October 19 to November 8, 2026, will see BHIM contribute towards providing school kits to children requiring learning support for every seventh transaction made by a user on the app. The initiative combines digital payment adoption with community participation, extending the role of financial technology beyond routine transactions.

Gaurav Kochhar, Chief of Business at NPCI BHIM, said the campaign aims to connect digital payments with children’s education and access to essential learning materials. Anshu Gupta, Founder and Executive Director of Goonj, said the partnership would leverage everyday technology to encourage citizen participation and ensure children receive educational resources with dignity.

Mehul Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of SoCheers, said the initiative seeks to extend the culture of giving beyond the festive season by making routine digital transactions contribute to a wider social objective.

Goonj is known for its pan-India work in education, community development and disaster relief. The campaign reinforces BHIM’s positioning as ‘Bharat KaApna Payments App’.

NPCI BHIM Services Limited was incorporated in 2024 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India. It aims to expand secure, accessible and user-friendly digital payments for individuals and businesses, supporting financial inclusion and India’s transition towards a digital economy.
