Nagaland: One Arrested for Driving Vehicle onto Railway Track in Dimapur

Dimapur police arrested a 65-year-old man, Thepfuneituo, for illegally driving a Mahindra Thar onto the railway track at Dimapur Railway Station. The vehicle, identified by registration number NL-01 CA 8181, became stuck on Line No. 1 near the old flyover area on the Burma Camp side.

Upon notification, police personnel collaborated with railway authorities to safely intercept and remove the vehicle from the track, preventing any potential harm to passengers, railway assets, or the public. Preliminary investigations indicated that the incident resulted from gross negligence and violations of traffic and railway safety regulations, leading to the driver’s custody and a case being registered with the RPF Dimapur.

Investigations are ongoing to evaluate all circumstances of the event, including the potential influence of alcohol or other substances. The Dimapur police have issued a stern warning to the public regarding the severe risks associated with unauthorized railway track access, emphasizing that such actions not only jeopardize the individual’s safety but also endanger passengers and critical railway infrastructure. Citizens have been encouraged to maintain vigilance and report any suspicious or unsafe behaviors to the appropriate authorities.
