Nagaland University research suggests ecotourism-based solution to human–tiger conflict

Nagaland University researchers propose a holistic approach to mitigate human-tiger conflicts in Uttarakhand, integrating ecotourism, community participation, and geospatial technology. The study emphasizes the need for coordinated interventions due to escalating conflicts driven by ecological degradation, climate change, and human expansion. It analyzes three decades of conflict trends near Jim Corbett National Park, using GIS modules to identify risk zones. Prof. Jagadish K. Patnaik praised the study for its community-based ecotourism strategy that could reduce resource dependency and enhance local livelihoods. Findings were published in Springer’s International Journal Environmental Monitoring and Assessment.
