Strict Action Warned Against Bribery and Misuse of Power in Police Units

The Arunachal Pradesh Police has issued a strict directive enforcing zero tolerance towards corruption across all police establishments under the Itanagar Capital Range, warning personnel of strong departmental and legal action if found involved in corrupt practices. The order was issued by senior police officer T. Amo and circulated to all Superintendents of Police, Sub-Divisional Police Officers, Officers-in-Charge and other supervisory officials under the range. According to the directive, all police stations, district police establishments, check gates, police outposts, traffic points and other units must maintain high standards of integrity, professionalism, accountability and transparency while dealing with the public.

The order clearly stated that no citizen should be forced, pressured or encouraged to pay illegal money for any police-related service. It specifically mentioned that illegal gratification linked to entry into Arunachal Pradesh without an Inner Line Permit (ILP), movement of trucks and vehicles through check gates, settlement of traffic violations outside legal procedures, registration of FIRs, disposal of complaints, release of accused persons, police verification and enquiry processes would not be tolerated. The directive warned that any involvement in corruption, extortion, illegal collection of money or misuse of official position would be treated seriously and strict action would be taken against those responsible. Police officials heading various units have also been instructed to organise regular briefings and sensitisation programmes for officers and personnel to reinforce ethical conduct and professional responsibility.

In addition, all police stations, traffic points, check gates and other places involving direct public interaction have been directed to display clearly visible notices informing citizens about their rights and encouraging them to immediately report any incident of corruption or misconduct. The order stressed that the instructions must be implemented “in letter and spirit” to strengthen transparency in policing and maintain public confidence in the police system.
