Nagaland Governor Calls for Balancing Sustainable Growth With Tribal Heritage Protection

Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Friday graced the inaugural ceremony of the National Seminar on “Revisiting Tribal Heritage of Northeast India: Challenges and Opportunities,” organised by the School of Humanities and Education, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus.
Addressing the seminar, the Governor emphasised the importance of preserving indigenous languages, traditions and knowledge systems while promoting culturally sensitive and sustainable development.
He also highlighted the valuable contributions of tribal communities towards environmental conservation, sustainable living and social harmony.
The seminar brought together scholars, academicians and researchers from across the country for meaningful discussions on the preservation and promotion of the rich tribal heritage of Northeast India.
Highlighting the role of Nagaland University, Yadav said the institution could contribute significantly through interdisciplinary studies and research initiatives.
He also underlined the importance of tribal wisdom in addressing global concerns, saying indigenous communities possess valuable knowledge on environmental conservation, sustainable living, community harmony and coexistence with nature.
The Governor further lauded the participation of scholars and experts from different parts of the country, saying such exchanges promote deeper understanding and meaningful policy discussions on tribal heritage and development in Northeast India.
