The state government has taken an exceptional step with the aim of reusing the skills and knowledge of experienced educationists. Under this special policy, approval has been given to extend the tenure of a state award-winning retired teacher of the Education Department by an additional one year. Dr. Mizanur Rahman, former Headmaster of Kaladoba High School in Agomani, Dhubri district, who received this opportunity, was re-engaged in service after his retirement on April 30.
According to government sources, the government has adopted a special policy to allow a select group of teachers who have received state awards for special contributions in the field of education to serve for a limited period even after retirement. Under this rule, Dr. Rahman has been permitted to teach in any school in Dhubri district during his extended tenure.
Notably, Dr. Rahman was honored with a state award by the Assam Government in 2017 for his proficiency in teaching as well as in school administration. Moreover, he also received special recognition at the national level in the same year for his unique contribution toward enhancing transparency and accountability in schools. According to government officials, the main objective of this special initiative taken at the government level is to provide academic guidance through senior and experienced educationists, strengthen school leadership, and provide proper direction to young teachers.
After receiving this order, Dr. Mizanur Rahman expressed gratitude to the government. He said, “Teaching is not just a profession for me; it is a lifelong commitment. I am extremely happy to be able to return to the classroom again.”
Meanwhile, local residents along with members of the School Management Committee have welcomed this decision of the government. They remarked that this step will be highly positive for the development of education at the grassroots level.
