The animated short film ‘Chyimi’, written and directed by Dr. Parthasarathi Mahanta — a leading cultural activist, litterateur, filmmaker, actor of the state and Commissioner of Police, Guwahati — has brought glory to the state by winning the ‘Honourable Mention’ in the Best Short Film category at the ‘Athens Marathon Film Awards’, earning special acclaim.
This honour has further strengthened ‘Chyimi’s’ glorious journey in the world of animated short films. The film has already received significant appreciation at the international level. Earlier, ‘Chyimi’ won the Best Short Film award at the Jaipur International Film Festival and was also honoured as Best Short Film at the New York Short Animation Festival.
The success of this animated short film has given special global recognition to an exceptional work of art produced from Assam. The film, written, scripted and directed by Dr. Parthasarathi Mahanta, has established animation as a powerful medium. The film has been produced by Dr. Parthasarathi Mahanta’s mother and noted cultural activist Meena Mahanta, and Inspector General of Assam Police Indrani Baruah.
