Heavy rainfall in parts of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday morning triggered landslides and road damage in Keyi Panyor district, disrupting transportation and affecting normal life in several areas. According to local sources, the affected locations include Possa village, Pitapool and Nepco Colony, where continuous rainfall led to soil erosion and landslips at multiple points. The adverse weather caused significant damage to roads and related infrastructure, raising concerns among residents and commuters. One of the worst-hit stretches is the road connecting Potin and Possa, which has been blocked at several locations due to landslides and the accumulation of debris. The road has become inaccessible for vehicular traffic, disrupting daily movement and hampering the transportation of essential goods and services.
Residents in the affected areas have reported difficulties in commuting as road connectivity remains severely affected. The disruption has also impacted routine activities, with many people facing delays in travel and access to basic services.Officials and local residents have begun assessing the extent of the damage. Restoration work is expected to be taken up once weather conditions permit, with efforts focused on clearing debris and restoring connectivity as quickly as possible. Authorities have advised travellers and residents to avoid using the Potin–Possa route until further notice and to remain cautious due to the continuing risk of landslides and road collapses.
No casualties or injuries have been reported so far. However, district authorities are maintaining a close watch on the situation as rainfall is expected to continue in several parts of the district. Officials have urged people living in vulnerable areas to stay alert and follow safety advisories issued by the administration.
