Aiming to provide relief to nearby commuters, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has amended the National Highways Fees Rules of 2008 to introduce a local FASTag pass for individuals residing within 20 km of a toll plaza, where the annual fee is set at Rs 1,500 for toll plazas outside municipal and local town limits and Rs 3,000 for plazas situated within municipal limits, complemented by a monthly recharge option of up to Rs 350; eligible private vehicle owners can secure this pass either through the Rajmarg Yatra Mobile App by downloading it from the Google Play or Apple App Store, logging in via mobile number, locating the FASTag or local pass section, entering their Vehicle Registration Number and FASTag ID for the designated toll plaza, allowing address and vehicle validation through VAHAN, DigiLocker, and [Aadhaar Redacted], choosing the billing period, and making the digital payment, or by visiting the toll plaza offline to submit their vehicle details, FASTag ID, and [Aadhaar Redacted] alongside the requisite payment for activation.
