Cultural Preservation as Important as Education, Says Arunachal Deputy CM

Arunachal Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Chown Mein highlighted the importance of education alongside the preservation of cultural and linguistic heritage during the inauguration of a new hostel building at Arunachal Pali Vidyapith Residential School in Chongkham, Namsai district. He expressed the government’s ongoing support for teaching the Pali and Tai Khamti languages and emphasized the need for digitization and restoration of rare manuscripts, crucial to the state’s heritage. Mein noted that the newly launched 60-bed hostel will significantly benefit students amid limited boarding facilities, reinforcing parents’ aspirations for quality education. He congratulated the Arunachal Pali Vidyapith Society and the RWD team for their work and pledged continued support for further infrastructure development. Additionally, he participated in a coordination meeting focused on boundary demarcation for Namsai Nagar Palika, stressing the urgent need for improved civic services—such as roads, sanitation, water supply, lighting, and market facilities—as Namsai evolves into an urban center, urging stakeholder cooperation to transform it into a model town.
