Billionaire Gautam Adani’s conglomerate has completed its acquisition of the remaining stake in IANS India Private Limited, gaining full control of the news agency. AMG Media Networks Ltd, the media arm of Adani Enterprises, entered into a share purchase agreement to acquire the remaining 24% stake in IANS, according to a stock exchange filing.
The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. With this move, the Adani Group now has complete ownership of one of India’s prominent news agencies, which provides news and content across various sectors including business, politics, and entertainment.
This acquisition reflects the group’s ongoing strategy to expand its presence in the media sector. Industry analysts note that the consolidation could strengthen Adani’s influence in the Indian media landscape, although the impact on editorial independence remains to be observed.
IANS has historically been a significant news provider, and its full takeover by a corporate conglomerate marks a notable shift in India’s media ownership dynamics.
