Arunachal Takes Leap in Smart Farming with Launch of Innovation and Experience Hub

The College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat has launched a first-of-its-kind Innovation and Experience Hub to promote next-generation, technology-driven agriculture in the North East.

Inaugurated by Sonalika Jiwani, Deputy Commissioner, East Siang District, the event highlighted the role of drones and the importance of responsible technology use.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of drone technology and its role in accelerating development programmes.

She encouraged students to effectively utilise the facility for innovation and skill development. In a unique initiative, she also brought district Class 10 toppers to witness live demonstrations, inspiring young minds towards science and future-ready careers.

The Hub is equipped with agricultural drones, multispectral sensors, and 3D printing systems, enabling applications such as precision spraying, crop health monitoring, and data-driven farm management. It is envisioned as a centre for experiential learning, capacity building, and regional outreach.

The programme included a live drone demonstration, inauguration of the facility, and interaction with students and faculty, with enthusiastic participation from staff and students.

Vasant Bhatt, Founder and Director of Trithi Robotics, participated as the technical expert. A pioneer in precision agriculture using drones in India since 2014, he is an awardee of the Ministry of Agriculture and a recipient of support from NITI Aayog.

Earlier, Prof. Sanjay Swami, Dean, College of Agriculture, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted that the initiative aligns with the vision of the Vice-Chancellor to promote technology-driven, skill-oriented, and next-generation agricultural education.

He further emphasised that the initiative is the outcome of sustained efforts in building an Agri 4.0 ecosystem, supported by the North Eastern Council (NEC) and executive partners such as AMTRON, Amantya Technologies, and Philips, who contributed to establishing 5G-enabled training and innovation infrastructure at the College.
