Assam’s Drug War: 10,000 Yaba Tablets Seized in Cachar Raid, CM Says ‘Police Isn’t Letting Up’

Assam Police have seized 10,000 Yaba tablets valued at around Rs 1 crore during a major anti-narcotics operation in Cachar district, dealing another blow to drug trafficking networks in the state.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs. The narcotics were recovered from a covert unit that was allegedly operating under the cover of a furniture shop. One person has been arrested in connection with the seizure.

Sharing the development on social media platform X, Sarma said the successful operation came barely a day after another major drug haul, highlighting the sustained crackdown launched by the state police against narcotics syndicates.

“Just 24 hours after a big catch, another one lands in the soup! In an intel-backed operation, Cachar Police recovered 10,000 Yaba tablets worth around Rs 1 crore from a clandestine unit disguised as a furniture shop and apprehended one accused. Assam Police isn’t letting up,” the Chief Minister posted.

Police have launched a detailed investigation to trace the source of the seized contraband and identify other members of the drug trafficking network.
