DIG Tumme Amo Urges Students to Uphold Discipline and Respect

Himalayan University (HU) on Tuesday organised an anti-ragging awareness programme to sensitise students and members of the university community about the harmful effects of ragging and the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive campus environment.

The programme focused on creating greater awareness among students about the consequences of ragging and encouraging responsible conduct within the university. Participants were also sensitised to the need for mutual respect, discipline and a supportive academic atmosphere.

DIG Tumme Amo addressed the students and highlighted the importance of discipline, mutual respect and responsible behaviour. He also spoke about the legal and social consequences associated with ragging and urged students to remain aware of their responsibilities towards one another.

Himalayan University Vice Chancellor Prof. Prakash Divakaran reiterated the university’s commitment to providing a safe, dignified and student-friendly campus. He encouraged students to uphold ethical values, respect their peers and work collectively towards creating a positive academic environment free from ragging and discrimination.

The Vice Chancellor emphasised that maintaining a healthy campus environment requires the participation and cooperation of the entire university community. He urged students to contribute positively to campus life while ensuring that their conduct reflects respect for fellow students and members of the university.

University Registrar Vijay K. Tripathi highlighted the importance of conducting awareness programmes on a regular basis. He said such initiatives help strengthen the collective resolve of students, faculty members and university authorities to prevent ragging and promote a safe academic environment.

Around 110 participants attended the programme. They included university officials such as the Dean of Research, Head of Administration, Dean of Student Welfare (DSW), Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), heads of departments, faculty members, staff and students.

The programme provided an opportunity for students and university officials to discuss the importance of preventing ragging and maintaining a campus culture based on dignity, discipline, mutual respect and inclusion.
